A special court in Delhi has issued a notice to Tejashwi on the petition of the Central Investigation Department. Tejashwi Yadav is likely to be arrested in the IRCTC scam case if the CBI petition is approved. According to reports, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved a special court in Delhi to cancel his bail in the IRCTC scam. Tejashwi Yadav is out on bail since 2018 in this case. If the court rejects Tejashwi Yadav’s bail in this case, his position as Deputy Chief Minister in Bihar may be in trouble.

ANI reports that Special Judge Gitanjali Goyal of the CBI Court in Delhi has issued a notice to Tejashwi Yadav. Many members of Lalu Yadav’s family have been involved in this scam when he was the railway minister. This includes Lalu’s younger son Tejashwi Yadav. The CBI has already filed a charge sheet under Sections 420, 120B of the IPC and other sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against Tejashwi Yadav and other accused in the case. According to information received, Tejashwi Yadav may be sentenced to 7 years in this case if the CBI is successful in proving the charges before the court. Along with Tejashwi Yadav, his mother Rabri Devi is also an accused in this case.

In this case, the Patiala House Court of Delhi had granted bail to the mother and son in 2018. RJD National President and then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is the main accused in this case. This matter dates back to when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the railway minister in the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh. Meanwhile, the railway hotels at Puri and Ranchi were handed over by the IRCTC to a private agency for maintenance and renovation. It is alleged that Lalu Yadav misused his position and gave this work to Vinay Kochhar’s company M/s Sujaja Hotels.

A total of 14 people have been accused in the IRCTC scam. CBI had earlier started investigation against 8 people in this case. Later, the names of six more people were added. CBI says that instead of giving these railway hotels to private agencies, Lalu Yadav gave undue benefits to his close people. According to the CBI, Kochhar had sold his 3-acre plot on Bailey Road in Patna to the company of Sarla Gupta, wife of Lalu Yadav’s close associate Prem Gupta, in exchange for these hotels, at a much lower price. While the market rate land was purchased by M/s Delight Marketing Company Limited for Rs.1.47 crores, the actual cost of the land was much higher. The land was sold at a lower rate than the circle rate fixed by the government.

According to the CBI, the same plot was later bought by Lalu Yadav’s family company Lara Project for just Rs 65 lakh. At that time the cost of this land at the government rate was around Rs 32 crore and the market price was around Rs 94 crore. According to CBI, this wealth could be more than 1000 crores. BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had claimed about five years ago that Lalu Yadav’s family was planning to build Patna’s biggest shopping mall on this land.
