Nagpur: Last year, 20 people were killed in a lightning strike in the district. Twelve people fell into the river and were swept away. This year too we may have to face this crisis. In the last two days, three people have been killed by lightning. Therefore, citizens should take proper precautions, appealed District Collector R. Vimala has done.
Monsoon has started in the district. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast more than 100 per cent rainfall this year. Natural and man-made disasters are likely to occur during this period. The damage to human, livestock and houses, agricultural infrastructure as well as the environment is a major factor in reducing the damage, the district collector said.
Take care of this
– Do not go out of the house when lightning strikes
– Do not carry mobile phone with you while going to work in the field
– Electrical appliances in the house should be turned off when lightning strikes
– Do not accidentally stand under a tree during heavy rains and thunderstorms
– If the river is flooded during heavy rains, do not try to cross the river if it is overflowing
