There Will Never Be a Slaughterhouse Near the Holy Site of Alandi” – Industries Minister Uday Samant

PIMPRI CHINCHWAD( Alandi ) | The recently published draft revised development plan by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) proposes a slaughterhouse on a 4-acre plot near the border of Moshi-Dudulgaon, just a short distance from the sacred Shri Kshetra Alandi. This proposal has sparked a wave of intense outrage among various Hindu nationalist organizations and the Warkari sect.
After becoming aware of these sentiments, Industries Minister Uday Samant initially acknowledged that a slaughterhouse was indeed proposed at that location. However, in the presence of revered spiritual leaders (mahants), he assured that the reservation for this project within PCMC limits would be canceled and firmly declared that a slaughterhouse will never be allowed in this area.
Minister Samant made this statement during the 60th birth anniversary gratitude ceremony and the launch of a commemorative book honoring H.B.P. Pramod Maharaj Jagtap, held at Shri Kshetra Alandi. During the event, he was joined by prominent figures such as Chaitanya Maharaj Deglurkar, Shantibrahma Marotibaba Kurekar, Santveer Bandatatya Karadkar, Member of Parliament Rajabhau Waje, Honoree Mahant Pramod Maharaj Jagtap, MLA Goriram Pawar, Akshay Maharaj Bhosale, Purushottam Maharaj Patil, Shribhau Maharaj Parande, Bhagwat Maharaj Salunkhe, Umesh Maharaj Bagde, Rahul Chavan, Ajit Vadgaonkar, along with several saints, mahants, and Warkari devotees.
Minister Samant also mentioned that since becoming the Minister for Marathi Language, he has visited Shri Kshetra Alandi three times within six months. He shared that there was a public demand to make the Dnyaneshwari (a revered commentary on the Bhagavad Gita) more accessible to the common people. In response, he announced a decision to begin printing the Dnyaneshwari within the next eight hours.
Further, he emphasized that just like other fields, members of the Warkari tradition also deserve Padma awards. He declared his intent to soon recommend Guruvarya Shantibrahma Marotibaba Maharaj Kurekar for the prestigious honor.
