Eye examination in municipal schools: Positive role of administrator Shekhar Singh

Due to the time of taking online education during Corona period, many symptoms and diseases related to eyes have come to the fore among school students. Therefore, MLA Lakshman Jagtap had sent a letter to the commissioner and suggested organizing a camp for eye examination of all the students of primary and secondary schools of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Taking cognizance of this, the Medical Department of the Municipal Corporation has started conducting eye examination camps for the students of primary and secondary schools in those schools. MLA Jagtap has also suggested to the Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh that all the students who show symptoms of eye disorders should be treated properly.
A complete lockdown was implemented in the country after the Corona crisis. At that time, online schools were started to prevent the academic loss of school students. Students were learning online through mobiles, laptops and computers. Students had to take online education for two consecutive years. Due to the constant use of mobile phones, many students have started experiencing eye pain, redness and swelling in the eyes and other symptoms. As many prefer to ignore it, these diseases can become dangerous for the eyes of those students in future.
It is not possible for students from poor families to get treatment for eye diseases. MLA Laxman Jagtap had sent a letter to the Municipal Commissioner on July 27, 2022, keeping in mind the need to take the disease of a sensitive area like the eye seriously. In that letter, MLA Jagtap had instructed the commissioner to conduct an eye check-up camp for students in primary and secondary schools of the municipal corporation. Taking cognizance of this, the municipal administration has prepared a schedule for conducting eye examination camp in all municipal schools and started its implementation.
The administration has entrusted the responsibility of the eye examination camp to the principals and supervisors of the respective schools. According to the planning done by him, eye examination camps are being organized for students in all the schools through the medical department of the municipal corporation. Students showing symptoms of eye-related diseases in this camp should be properly treated by the Municipal Corporation.
