Legislative Council elections: BJP’s Prasad Lad, Congress’s brother Jagtap won in a fierce battle; Chandrakant defeated Handore

Mumbai. Special Representative

In the Rajya Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party had given a strong push to the Mahavikas Aghadi. After that, now the BJP has also defeated Mavia in the Legislative Council elections. All the five candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party have been elected. Each of the two candidates of NCP and Shiv Sena have won. In this election, the Congress has suffered a major setback and both the candidates have not been able to meet the first preference quota.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prasad Lad and Congress candidate Bhai Jagtap had a tussle. However, BJP’s Prasad Lad won. BJP got 133 first choice votes. In the second round of counting, BJP’s Prasad Lad won with 28 votes. After the second preference vote, Congress’ brother Jagtap won and Chandrakant Handore lost.

The need to think as a government: Balasaheb Thorat
In the Legislative Council elections, the Congress has suffered a major setback, with three votes split. This needs to be considered as a government. There is no point in blaming others for splitting our party. Balasaheb Thorat responded that he would introspect.

Extremely happy story: Devendra Fadnavis

All the five BJP candidates won in the Assembly elections. There is a lot of confusion in the Mahavikas front. No coordination. We believed that our fifth candidate would get votes. Our candidate got more votes than the Congress candidate. He had polled 123 votes in Rajya Sabha elections and 134 votes in Legislative Council elections. MLAs Laxman Jagtap and Mukta Tilak contributed to the victory. I thank him, said Devendra Fadnavis.
