NCP leader Ramraje Nimbalar’s ‘hat trick’: a resounding victory in the Legislative Council elections

Mumbai: Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, a trusted colleague of senior leader Sharad Pawar and who has been working shoulder to shoulder with Pawar since the inception of NCP, has scored a hat trick of victory. In the Legislative Council elections, he has won with a resounding 28 votes. Therefore, Ramraje will once again appear in the role of headmaster. He is currently the Speaker of the Legislative Council. Due to his victory, the chairmanship will remain with him.

The NCP had the required strength to get its two candidates elected. Accordingly, the NCP had decided the quota of their votes. Accordingly, Ramaraj got 28 first choice votes. Eknath Khadse got 29 votes. Shiv Sena’s Sachin Ahir got 26 votes and Amashya Padvi got 26 votes. Four BJP candidates won. Ram Shinde, Praveen Darekar, Uma Khapre, Srikant Bhartiya are the winners.
Ramraje Nimbalkar’s hat trick
Ramraje Nimbalkar is the 29th descendant of Phaltan dynasty in Satara district. Ramraje Nimbalkar became the Mayor of Phaltan Municipality in 1991. He was first elected as an independent MLA from Phaltan Assembly constituency in 1995. He had sided with 22 independent MLAs in the state and supported the government of Shiv Sena leader and then Chief Minister Manohar Joshi.

Manohar Joshi and Ramraje Nimbalkar established the Krishna Valley Development Corporation in Phaltan around the same time. In it, Ramaraj was given the post of vice president of Krishna valley. Sharad Pawar founded the Nationalist Congress Party in 1999. At that time, Ram Raje had gone with the NCP. Later, during the alliance government, when Vilasrao Deshmukh was the Chief Minister, Ram Raje was given the post of Minister of State for Revenue. He became a cabinet minister in 2004. He was also given the post of Guardian Minister of Satara. In 2013, Ramaraj was made the Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board.

Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar gave Ramraje a chance on the Legislative Council in 2010. Again in 2016, Ramraje went to the Legislative Council. He is currently the Speaker of the Legislative Council. Now Ramaraj has won the Legislative Council for the third time.
