City-Wide Public Welfare Projects Get a Boost
Pimpri-Chinchwad | A special meeting was organized in Chinchwad by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) with the objective of strengthening long-term partnerships under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for urban amenities and citizen-centric development. More than 50 representatives from national and international companies participated in this meeting.
Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, while speaking at the inauguration, emphasized the need to strengthen basic infrastructure in areas such as education, healthcare, sanitation, and environment. He said, “Considering the rapid expansion of the city, inclusive development is essential. For this, not just funding but also the experience, skills, and human resources of companies in the CSR sector are important.” He also mentioned key CSR projects such as the Divyang Bhavan at Morwadi—an advanced center for differently-abled individuals, the Lighthouse Skill Development Initiative, the Sewing Skills Center in Bhosari, and the scientifically managed solid waste project in Moshi. “These projects, aligned with the municipality’s urban development priorities through CSR, can bring about positive changes in society,” he added.
Chief Information and Technology Officer and CSR Head of the corporation, Neelkanth Poman, welcomed the attendees and stated, “The municipal corporation has been consistently organizing this special meeting for the past five years. This initiative has led to support for hospitals, schools, and innovative programs. The impact of CSR in the city is clearly visible to the citizens, and the corporation aims to expand this further.”
Additional Commissioners Pradeep Jambhale Patil and Trupti Sandbhor, Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Lakshman Gophane, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Abhaychandra Dadewar, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar, Pankaj Patil, Assistant Commissioner Umesh Dhakne, Administrative Officer Sangita Bangar, and other municipal staff were present at the meeting. They provided details about proposed departmental projects and engaged in direct discussions with CSR representatives.
CSR representatives from various companies presented their ongoing and upcoming projects, while heads of municipal departments shared detailed information about collaboration opportunities. CSR consultants Vijay Vavare and Shrutika Mungi gave an overview of the national and international accolades received by the corporation in the past two years and the developmental work achieved through CSR initiatives.
