Mistaking them as a gang of child stealers, these sadhus were brutally beaten. The incident took place on Tuesday at Lavanga in Jat taluka of Sangli. Four sadhus were attacked by a mob on suspicion of stealing babies, a video of which has gone viral. In the presence of many people, a mob with sticks outside the grocery store was seen beating the sadhus. However, the police said that no information was received in this regard. Sangli SP Dixit Gedam said we have not received any complaint or formal report, but we are watching the viral video and verifying the facts. Sangli police have arrested six accused in this case. What exactly happened?
Four sadhus from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh were traveling by car from Bijapur in Karnataka towards Pandharpur town for devdarshan. During the journey, these four sadhus stayed at night in a temple in Lavanga village. This time again in the morning he started his journey towards Pandharpur. But before traveling, he was asking a village boy for directions. Some of the locals present at this time suspected that they were part of a criminal gang that abducted children. Due to this suspicion, the villagers started questioning the monks. At this point, there was an altercation between the villagers and the monks, which escalated and the local people beat the monks with sticks. The video of this incident is now going viral. On which there is an angry reaction from many. Also, strict action is being taken against the abusers.

BJP MLA Ram Kadam has also strongly condemned the incident. We strongly condemn and criticize the mistreatment of sadhus in Sangli, we will not tolerate such mistreatment of sadhus. Strict action will be taken against the accused. He has posted a video of such demand. Referring to the 2020 incident, he said, “The then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s government did injustice to him in the killing of sadhus in Palghar, but the present government of Maharashtra will not allow injustice to any sadhu.”
