Storm pelting in two groups in Aurangabad: several injured; Filed a riot case

Aurangabad: A storm of stones was hurled between two groups in the city of Aurangabad late on Friday night after a dispute erupted over the removal of alcoholics in a rickshaw. Several people were injured in the stone pelting and a case has been registered against 20 to 25 people from both the groups at Citychowk police station. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

The mob vandalized two-wheelers and a rickshaw, hurling stones at each other. A riot case has been registered in this regard. Akshay Hiwale, Harish alias Nakka Maroti Salunke, Raju Hiwale, Arbaaz and Syed Basit, Akhtar, Nasser, Javed and 10 to 15 others (all residents of Fazalpura, Labor Colony, Aurangabad) were charged. The injured have been identified as Hirabai Raju Hiwarale (45 years old, resident of Fazalpura, Municipal Corporation school neighborhood), Syed Basit Syed Hasan (42 years old, resident of Fazalpura, Labor Colony).

It is learned that four persons were drinking alcohol in a rickshaw in front of Syed Basit’s house on Friday night. He was opposed by Basit. This led to an argument and then two groups clashed with sticks. This time a large number of stones were hurled by both groups. Several people were injured in the stone pelting, while a rickshaw and a two-wheeler were vandalized.

Citychowk police, meanwhile, rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. A case has been registered against 20 to 25 people from both the groups late last night. Police have arrested four persons in connection with the case and a large contingent has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
