Thane: A company caught fire in Wagle Estate area of Thane. Some of the cylinders inside the company exploded due to the fire. The fire and the explosion of the cylinder had spread fear among the citizens of the area. Efforts are being made by the fire brigade to contain the blaze.
The fire broke out at Silica Scientific, Plot No. A-202, Ambika Nagar, adjacent to Usher IT Park, Wagle Estate, Thane, around 10:30 pm on Saturday. This company manufactures laboratory equipment. The fire slowly took on a raucous form. About 8 to 9 cylinders exploded due to the company’s stock of LPG cylinders. The blast had rocked the surrounding area.
Upon receiving information about the fire, fire brigade, MSEDCL staff, Wagle Estate Police Station, Thane Municipal Corporation Disaster Management Cell staff rushed to the spot. The fire brigade reached the spot with 6 to 7 fire bombs, 2 fire vehicles, 1 rescue vehicle, 2 water tankers and 1 ambulance and managed to control the fire. The fire brigade is currently working on the company’s cooling. As a precaution, power supply to the area was also cut off by MSEDCL. However, the fire in the company and the explosion of the cylinder had created panic among the people in the area.

Fortunately, no one was killed or injured in the incident and the company was gutted. After the fire broke out, locals evacuated employees from nearby companies and evacuated the area. The cause of the fire is still unclear and at first glance, it is being speculated that the fire may have been caused by a shock circuit.
