After two years now, the Mount Mary Yatra will be held from September 11 to 18. This fair has more than 100 years of tradition. This fair is also known as Bandra Mahotsav. Now that this fair will be held after 2 years, it is expected that more than one lakh devotees will visit every day. After the reduction in the incidence of Corona in Bai, festivals and celebrations are being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Dahi Handi and Ganeshotsav were celebrated in Mumbai recently with great joy. Bappa’s processions were taken out to the sound of drums. After two years now, the Mount Mary Yatra will be held from September 11 to 18. This fair has more than 100 years of tradition. This fair is also known as Bandra Mahotsav. Now that this fair will be held after 2 years, it is expected that more than one lakh devotees will visit every day.

In accordance with this, proper preparations have been made for various civil service facilities by the ‘H West’ department of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Corporation is equipped to serve the devotees. Specially, for the first time this year, the yatra will be broadcasted live through social media like YouTube and Twitter, said Assistant Commissioner of ‘H West’ Division, Vinayak Vispute.

“This year, Mount Mary will be held from September 11 to 18. Due to the outbreak of ‘Covid-19’, this yatra was not organized in the last two years i.e. 2020 and 2021. However, due to the various measures taken by the Municipal Corporation and the effectively implemented vaccination campaign to control this epidemic, the rate of Kovid infection is under control this year,” said Vinayak Vispute.

In the background of this yatra, all measures are being taken by the Municipal Corporation to conduct the yatra smoothly. According to the information provided by the church authority, it is expected that around 1 lakh devotees will come for darshan and yatra every day this year. Traffic routes have been fixed with the help of Mumbai Traffic Police for the convenience of the devotees and to avoid congestion in the local area.

More than 100 ‘CCTV’ cameras have been installed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to monitor the area.
Pilgrims mainly walk in this area, keeping in mind the fact that the roads in the area have been properly maintained and repaired.
Provision of drinking water has been made available to the pilgrims.
The workers, employees and officers of the solid waste management department are working uninterruptedly in a western section of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the cleanliness of the area.
A separate arrangement has been made at this place for proper disposal of wet and dry waste.
Mobile toilets have also been adequately arranged in this area for the convenience of the devotees.
Hon. As directed by the High Court, the temporary pitches at Mount Mary Road, St. John Baptista Road and Kane Road for the sale of worship materials, toys etc. have been completed and these temporary pitches have been made available to the general public and local citizens during the Yatra period.
Unauthorized stalls, unauthorized hawkers have been banned in this area.
The control room set up at this place by a western division of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will be functioning 24 hours uninterruptedly during the yatra period.
A first aid room has been set up at this place so that the devotees can get first aid and medical service facilities on time as required.
As part of controlling potential emergency situations, as well as to facilitate police monitoring of Tulsi, a monitoring room and observation tower have been set up by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
In terms of fire safety, Bombay fire brigade has deployed bombs at this place and the necessary fire fighting system has been equipped. Also, a separate room for the Mumbai fire brigade has also been set up at this place.
Necessary barricading has been done at this location as part of effective crowd planning.
Adequate sound projectors have been arranged at this place to give various instructions to the devotees during this yatra.
Large LED screens have been set up at three places in the Yatra area and the devotees will also be able to see through them.
During this pilgrimage, a separate exhibition room has been arranged to inform the public about the various activities, schemes, services etc. implemented by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the citizens, as well as to provide guidance and instructions. At the same time, an information hall is also functioning at this place through the public relations department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
Private organizations have been requested to provide vacant lots, school grounds (on holidays), depots in their possession to avoid possible vehicular congestion at these locations and for safe parking arrangements. So that the traffic will not be disturbed by arranging parking at this place through the traffic police.
Regarding the planning of this yatra, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation organized a joint meeting with church representatives, local public representatives, local residents, police system, fire brigade, transport system, BEST Enterprises and Adani Electricity to inform them about the possible measures to be taken along with the yatra.
All the officers of the cooperative societies in the area have been requested not to allow any inflammable substance, gas cylinders, unauthorized stalls etc.
