PCMC’s Coding Summer Camp concludes with 80 students showcasing tech innovation

Pimpri Chinchwad | The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s month-long Coding Summer Camp, organised at the Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park in collaboration with Leadership for Equity (LFE), concluded on a high note on Thursday, June 5. The initiative empowered around 80 students from PCMC-run and private schools with essential skills in coding, logical thinking, and creative problem solving.

Spanning five weeks and 45 hours of hands-on learning, the camp introduced children from Grades 3 to 9 to the world of block-based coding using Scratch, game and story design, and physical computing through circuits, LEDs, and sensors.

Held thrice a week at the Science Park near Auto Cluster in Chinchwad, the programme was offered free to civic school students and at a nominal fee to private school participants.

The grand finale of the camp was marked by a vibrant Hackathon where students presented interactive games, digital stories, and functional hardware prototypes that reflected their learning journey.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh on the unique initiative said,“This camp was not just about learning how to code—it was about opening up a world of possibilities. By equipping our children with computational thinking and digital skills, we are preparing them to be confident, curious, and creative citizens of the future.”

The initiative received enthusiastic feedback from parents and students alike.

Devata Kamble, a parent, shared, “We came from far—changing from bus to rickshaw all the way from Bopodi—but it was worth it. The teachers taught with so much love and in such new ways. Even our way of thinking has changed. Now we realise that phones are not just for wasting time—coding can actually be simple and meaningful.”
