MLA Mahesh Landge Steers the Palanquin of Sant Tukaram Maharaj; Commissioner Shekhar Singh Joins Him in Leading the Chariot

Pimpri-Chinchwad | With great enthusiasm and a devotional atmosphere, the 340th Palanquin Procession (Palkhi Sohla) of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj entered the industrial city of Pimpri-Chinchwad. BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, along with Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, took the lead in steering the palanquin chariot. This event showcased a beautiful harmony where political representatives and administrative heads proudly carried the sacred banner of the Warkari sect.

On behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), a grand welcome was arranged at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk in Nigdi for the palanquin of Sant Tukaram Maharaj. The entire industrial city echoed with chants of Tukoba’s name, while Warkaris danced rhythmically to the beats of tal and mridang (traditional instruments). The PCMC administration had made all necessary arrangements to welcome the procession.

On the occasion of Ashadhi Wari, the palanquin procession of Sant Tukaram Maharaj entered Pimpri-Chinchwad city with devotion and grandeur. A majestic reception was organized at the city’s Bhakti-Shakti Chowk. Against this backdrop, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge led the palanquin procession, delivering a heartfelt message of devotion. As soon as the palanquin entered the city, the air was filled with the sounds of devotional instruments and the chants of “Hari Naam”. Even the rain god welcomed the procession, and in those showers, thousands of Warkaris moved together toward their stay at Akurdi.

Meanwhile, various service activities were conducted for Warkaris at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk — including distribution of essential items, health check-up camps, provision of drinking water and snacks, as well as toilets and shelter arrangements. Laddus, water bottles, raincoats, and umbrellas were distributed. The procession then proceeded toward Akurdi, with thousands of devotees — including women, youth, and children — participating enthusiastically. Warkaris wholeheartedly appreciated the disciplined and ideal cooperation extended by the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad.

“Wari is the soul of Maharashtra’s culture. Serving the Warkaris is our duty and privilege. The Ashadhi Wari is a unique tradition, unmatched anywhere in the world. The palanquins of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj are not just religious symbols — they are rivers of faith, flowing toward Pandharpur through the footsteps of millions of devotees. Wari is not just about devotion; it is a blend of discipline, service, spiritual practice, and surrender.”
– Mahesh Landge, MLA, BJP, Pimpri-Chinchwad.
