Monsoon rains over Mumbai; The heat wave will increase again, 40 percent less rain

Mumbai: Mumbaikars were waiting for the monsoon as the heat wave intensified. But after a day of attendance, the monsoon has come to an end. The monsoon has made a strong presence in Mumbai, giving some relief from the heat and humidity. Meteorologists had forecast very little rain for the next five days. But with the monsoon slowing down, Mumbaikars will have to deal with heat and humidity for the next week.

Monsoon hits Mumbai

Monsoon hit Mumbai on Saturday. Mumbai and surrounding areas received good rainfall. The IMD recorded 56.8 mm of rain in Santa Cruz and 62.8 mm in Colaba 24 hours ago. Due to the weak monsoon, 23 mm of rain fell in Santa Cruz and 37.4 mm in Colaba the next day. According to Skymet Weather Vice President Mahesh Palawat, the weakening of the low pressure belt has slowed down the monsoon.

40% less rainfall than monsoon

In fact, good rains are expected in the state after June 18. According to Mahesh, the country has received 40 per cent less rainfall since the onset of monsoon. The arrival of the rains was expected to relieve the heat and humidity. But on Sunday, Santa Cruz recorded 33.2 degrees Celsius and Colaba 31 degrees Celsius. So far in June, Santa Cruz has received 79.8 mm of rain and Colaba 100.2 mm.
