How did the Foxconn project go to Gujarat?
Why did Foxconn choose Gujarat for the project instead of Maharashtra? The opposition party has been asking the Shinde-Fadnavis government since yesterday. The answer to this question has been revealed. As Gujarat is the only state with semi-conduction policy, Foxconn chose Gujarat for the project, company officials said.

Gujarat Government made Semi Conduction Policy, the only state in the country to make such a policy. State Electric Mission was established to attract investment under these policies. The facilities to be provided to the companies under this mission were approved in the budget session. Gujarat government was ready for investment since last February. Because of this policy, companies making semi conductors approached the Gujarat government. The last meeting was held with the Chief Minister of Gujarat before the formation of the Shinde government. The formal process of signing the MoU took place yesterday.

Anil Agarwal, President of ‘Vedant’ said…
This project will be built on a thousand acre land in Ahmedabad district. For this, the investment of ‘Vedant’ will be 60 percent, while the investment of ‘Foxcon’ will be 40 percent. Anil Agarwal, president of Vedanta, said that the actual production of semiconductors will start in the next two years from this project. He was speaking after signing an agreement with the Gujarat government. Last year there was a huge shortage of semiconductors in the country. The automobile industry was hit hard by this. Semiconductors are imported from China and Taiwan. In order to reduce the dependence on these two countries, it is necessary to produce semiconductors in the country. For this, the central government had brought a financial relief scheme. A Product Linked Licensing Scheme (PLI) was also introduced in this. Taking advantage of this, Vedanta-Foxconn has made a joint application to produce semiconductors.
