Inauguration of MahaUrja’s New Administrative Building: Maharashtra Marching Towards Green Energy

    Pune | All government offices in the state will transition to solar energy by December 2025, announced Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the inauguration of the MahaUrja’s new administrative building. Energy Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and other dignitaries were also present for the event.

The new building, constructed using green building standards, reflects energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. Notable features include natural lighting, rainwater harvesting, solar systems, and energy-saving designs. The construction aligns with the Prime Minister’s emphasis on increasing solar power use and reducing carbon emissions.

Devendra Fadnavis stated:

“With initiatives like this, Maharashtra is moving quickly toward green energy. The state’s target is to reduce 100 million tonnes of carbon emissions. To achieve this, every government office will adopt solar energy by December 2025.”

He emphasized that Maharashtra is already a national leader in solar power, having installed solar systems in over 30,000 government schools and 20,000 government offices.


Net Zero Energy, Eco-Friendly Building

The newly inaugurated MahaUrja administrative building is based on Net Zero Energy and Eco-Friendly principles. It will serve as a model for future construction.

Maharashtra Ahead in Solar Agriculture Pumps

With over 8 lakh solar-powered agricultural pumps installed nationwide, Maharashtra leads with the highest share. Solar-powered pumps are being distributed under the Chief Minister’s Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme, helping farmers with uninterrupted electricity supply. These efforts are contributing to significant financial savings and increased productivity.


Aiming for zero electricity bill

  1. Electricity Savings Target:
    By installing 300 MW of solar power systems in government offices, MahaUrja aims to reduce the state’s electricity bills.

  2. Deadline – December 2025:
    Solar panels will be installed in all state government offices by December 2025.

  3. MahaUrja’s Model Building:
    MahaUrja’s new building is fully powered by solar energy and sets an example in green construction.
