At the same time, the situation has become that the bouquets are ready to be received, but due to the department not meeting, they are waiting to go to the right place.
Nagpur: During the winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the city used to be bustling with activity at the residences of MLAs, Ravibhavan, Nagbhavan, and other offices, with party workers and officials all around. However, this time the atmosphere is much cooler. The main reason for this is that the ministers have not been assigned their portfolios yet. The situation has become such that while welcome bouquets are ready, people are waiting for the distribution of departments.
The entire city is decked up for the new government’s session. Senior officials from across the state are present, but the crowd of party workers is notably smaller. People usually come to Nagpur from all over the state during the session, but this time the excitement is lacking. The situation is due to the delay in ministers being assigned their portfolios. There are also fewer events and activities organized by various government departments.
Ministers often make surprise inspections of offices, but this time even the officials seem less active. The excitement has been further dampened by the one-week duration of the session. On the day of the swearing-in, workers from across the state gathered in the city, but as the portfolios haven’t been distributed, they attended the ceremony and left. Not only has the activity decreased outside, but even within the legislature complex, the opposition has been less active. One of the main reasons is the reduced number of opposition members, and they also don’t have a solid issue to target the government on.
During the session, people usually come from all over the state, which also increases activity in hotels. The Jungle Safari is typically a major attraction, but this time the situation has remained normal. Tourists visiting other districts or religious sites are also not experiencing the typical “session crowd.” Some legislators who did not get ministerial positions have left for their constituencies. Along with them, the workers also left. The number of organizations holding protests and sit-ins is also smaller, so there has been less impact on traffic. Three days of the session have passed, and three more remain, meaning the rest of the session is expected to continue with this subdued atmosphere.
