Yashwant Bhosale’s demand for hunger strike for workers’ rights: No anti-labor laws in Maharashtra

Pune. Mahanews. Special Representative.

Maharashtra state labor leader Yashwant Bhosle said that laws against the interests of workers should not be implemented in Maharashtra, the contract system should be stopped, the rights of workers’ organizations should remain intact, workers should be made permanent after 240 days, and the workers of companies fired during the Corona epidemic should be brought back to work. A fast to death has been started from August 10 at the Labor Commissioner’s office, Shivajinagar, Pune. The new policy of Central Government’s Labor Act 2022 has allowed the management of the company to close down the company and reduce the number of workers if the company has 300 workers instead of 100. Therefore, Bhosale has demanded that the future of 90% industrial workers in Maharashtra will be jobless and this policy should not be implemented in Maharashtra.

Company owners are doing direct contract method with workers and employees for 5 years or 3 years. The company owners have the right to extend the deadline if the company management thinks so. Also, Bhosale argued that approval of establishments is required to participate in the union, this rule needs to be changed.

Contract system should be abolished…
The lives of the youth of the state are being ruined due to recruitment of crores of workers in the industries of Maharashtra through NEEMS. Because companies are giving fixed contracts to workers. Due to this, Permanent Employment Contracts and NEEMS (NEEMS) system should be discontinued in the state. Also, this law should be implemented that complete 6 months training, 6 months probation and after that the youth should be retained in the service in that industry. After completion of 240 days and continuous work, those workers will be permanently employed in the respective establishment and factory. If the policy in the new law is adopted, the permanent labor system will be closed and there will be a huge unemployment dissatisfaction in the society. Therefore, Yashwant Bhosale has also demanded that these laws should not be implemented in Maharashtra.
