New Delhi : Bangermau’s BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of a minor girl in Unnao by a Delhi court. District Judge Dharmesh Sharma said that Sengar was a public servant. People reposed faith in him and he betrayed that trust.
Delhi court also imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on Sengar out of which Rs 10 lakh will be given to the victim and Rs 15 lakh to the UP Government for the costs incurred during prosecuting Sengar. Sengar broke down before the judge inside the court.
The Delhi court also put the directives the CBI to continue valuating the threat perception every three months, and ensure protection to the victim and her family members, including providing them with new identities if required.
The court had found Sengar guilty of raping a minor girl in Unnao in 2017. He charged under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and Sections 5(c) & 6 of the POCSO Act.
