Shuffle in BJP: Bawankule got the post of BJP state president, while Adv. Ashish Shelar forever!
Mumbai: Chandrashekhar Bawankule has become the new state president of BJP. There has been a shuffling of shoulders in the party due to the appointment of Chandrakant Patil as a cabinet minister. Aashish Shelar has been given the responsibility of BJP’s Mumbai president. BJP has strengthened its aggressive face in the face of Mumbai municipal elections. As the current BJP Mumbai president Mangalprabhat Lodha has also been appointed as a minister, Shelar has been entrusted with the post of president.
Who is Chandrasekhar Bawankule?
Chandrasekhar Bawankule held the post of Power Minister during the Fadnavis government. He was also appointed as Guardian Minister of Nagpur in December 2014. He represented Kamthi Assembly Constituency in Nagpur. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly three times in a row i.e. 2004, 2009, 2014.
Bawankule was not given a ticket by the BJP to contest the 2019 assembly elections due to corruption allegations, it was given to his wife Jyoti, who filled the election form from Kamthi, but at the last minute, after filling the form, Jyoti was denied the AB form by the BJP. Because of this, the Teli community, which supported the Bawankules, was widely displeased.
After that, Bawankules were given place in the Nagpur Legislative Council elections. Bawankule defeated both the candidates of Mahavikas Aghadi and won in a resounding victory. At present, BJP has kept the leaders of the legislative council away from the cabinet. Hence, they were not featured in the much awaited expansion. But Bawankules are being honored by wearing the neck of BJP state president.
