Burning: A team of the Directorate of Recovery (ED) on Friday took action against a factory belonging to Shiv Sena leader and former Minister of State Arjun Khotkar. The team seized 200 acres of land of Ramnagar Sugar Factory at Savargaon Hadap (Tal. Jalna), factory building and machinery. Khotkar bought the factory in an auction conducted by the Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank to run it privately.
The action has been taken following a complaint regarding the sale of factories. Senior social activist Anna Hazare, former MLA Manikrao Jadhav and others had alleged that the auction was illegal.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, the ED raided Khotkar’s residence and office; A builder involved in the transaction was also investigated in Aurangabad and the factory owners.
