After this hearing, Patiala court has said that there will be no change in the death warrant today. The guilty wind has now appealed to President Ram Nath Kovind.
The death sentence should be changed to life imprisonment. Pawan claimed he was a minor when he committed the crime. On the contrary, it has been requested that he should be sentenced to life imprisonment without the death penalty. Pawan’s lawyer, AP Singh, filed a curative petition, demanding the Supreme Court’s death sentence be dismissed. A 5-judge bench today heard the petition filed by Pawan on Friday. Of the four convicts, Pawan is the last culprit to make a curative petition. He is requesting that he be sentenced to life term instead of death sentence.
The Delhi court on February 17 decided that all four convicts be sentenced to death on March 3. So far, the court has issued a death warrant three times for all four. The death penalty had to be postponed as the first two time convicts were punished by law. It is now the third time a death warrant has been issued. But two convicts had filed petitions before this time.
