Naradhamala sentenced to death by Thane court for rape, murder of seven-year-old girl

Bharatkumar Dhaniram Kori, who was stoned to death after raping a seven-year-old girl, was on Wednesday sentenced to death by a special Pokso court in Thane Sessions Court. Kalyanrao Karpe, the then senior police inspector of Bhoiwada police station, had investigated the case in December 2019 and filed a chargesheet in the court on the 16th.

The victim is the parents of a minor girl. Bharat Kumar, a porter, used to go to his house for dinner. So he got to know his daughter. On December 21, 2019, at 10 pm, Bharat Kumar abducted the girl under the pretext of giving her ice cream. He then took her to a secluded place and raped her. He then threw a large stone at her head and brutally murdered her. Her parents searched for her. However, she was not found. He lodged a complaint at the police station. The next day, the girl’s body was found. After a case was registered at Bhoiwada police station, Kalyanrao Karpe started investigation into the case. Based on CCTV footage and other information, Bharat Kumar was arrested on April 22 from Bhiwandi.

The case was being heard in the Special Pokso Court of the Thane Sessions Court. Public Prosecutor Sanjay More made an effective argument in court. Also, 25 witnesses were examined. The accused was hanged under Section 302 (murder), Section 376 (a) (b) and Pokso Section 5 (m) and 6. Under section 364, life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 have also been imposed.
