Rehabilitate slum dwellers near Pimpri-Chinchwad: MLA Mahesh Landage

Demand to Vijay Vadettiwar, Minister of State for Relief and Rehabilitation

Pimpri. Representative
In Pimpri-Chinchwad, houses belonging to slum dwellers near the railway tracks will be demolished. Such instructions have been given by the railway administration. The state government is responsible for the rehabilitation of the concerned citizens. Therefore, BJP state president and MLA Mahesh Landage has demanded that the state government should immediately rehabilitate the slum dwellers concerned.
A statement has been sent to state aid and rehabilitation minister Vijay Vadettiwar in this regard. It said that the Supreme Court had issued notices to the slum dwellers in Pimpri-Chinchwad to vacate their houses within 15 days, misinterpreting the decision of the Railway Department regarding slums. Therefore, the issue of rehabilitation of slum dwellers has arisen. In the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, huts of citizens have been on the railway land at Saibabanagar, Anandnagar, Kasarwadi, Pimpri, Dapodi, Dalvinagar etc. at Chinchwad station for many years. However, the railway administration has decided to remove these huts. About 40,000 to 45,000 people will become homeless as a result. The land is under the jurisdiction of the railway department and thousands of slum dwellers are living on it. Accordingly, the railway administration has assumed the responsibility of rehabilitation for the state government. The state government has not yet taken any action in this regard. Therefore, there is an atmosphere of concern among the concerned citizens.
Hold an urgent meeting of the officers of the concerned department.
In fact, the citizens living along the railway tracks are from economically weaker sections. The number of residents earning a living through mercenary or domestic work is high. The decision by the Supreme Court has made it clear that the railway administration will not take action on rehabilitation. Therefore, the state government is expected to take immediate decision to rehabilitate the slum dwellers along the railway tracks. Therefore, an immediate meeting of the officers of the concerned department should be held. MLA Landage also said that the issue of rehabilitation of citizens living near railway tracks should be sorted out.
