Pimpri: A female assistant police inspector demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from a doctor for not sealing the hospital’s sonography center. While accepting the amount of Rs 2 lakh, the officer was caught red-handed by the Bribery and Corruption Prevention Department. The operation was carried out at a private hospital in Nigdi.
Nalini Shankar Shinde, Assistant Inspector of Police, Sindhdurg, is the name of the woman officer who was booked. A 62-year-old female doctor has lodged a complaint in this regard. Shinde is investigating a case filed under the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse Act at Malvan Police Station in Sindhudurg district. She had come to Nigdi for this investigation.
Meanwhile, Shinde demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the complainant for not sealing the hospital’s sonography center and for cooperating in the investigation of the crime. He was caught red-handed by the Bribery Prevention Department while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. A case has been registered at Nigdi police station late last night.
