Following the ‘Bazar Ki Machchi Ke Saath Badboo Free’ ad which defames fishermen, another new controversial ad has been released. Actress Varsha Usgaonkar said in this advertisement, ‘I have been cheated many times by Kolnis in the market. The paplet in the market has such a foul smell that I was disappointed thinking why did I buy this paplet? A few months ago, an online fish seller company released an advertisement video on social media saying that the fish in the market has an unbearable stench, stink free with fish. It had a strong impact in the Koli community. The ad was withdrawn by the company after the society sent a legal notice to the company. A similar ad was made by a private fish seller app and published on Facebook. Meanwhile, the ad was removed from Facebook on Monday afternoon. Interestingly Varsha Usgaonkar has promoted this app.

‘I like to eat fish. I can immediately taste whether they are fresh or not, but when I go to the market to buy fish, I can’t choose the fish because I don’t know at that time whether the fish is fresh or not. So many times I have been cheated by Kolanis when I go to the market. Especially in the case of papillate. Those paplets seem to be very fresh in the market. After coming home that paplet smells so bad that at that time I was disappointed wondering why I bought this paplet. At that time this private app came as a blessing in my life.’ This is what Usgaonkar has said in this advertisement.

Fishermen have expressed their anger over this advertisement. This controversial statement of Usgaonkar is very reprehensible and it is an insult to the Koli women who sell fish for two meals a day. It is unfortunate that hardworking women are treated with such disdain by female actors in Marathi cinema. This clearly shows his mentality towards the poor. Nayana Patil, women president of Akhil Maharashtra Fishermen’s Action Committee, has warned that if Usgaonkar does not apologize publicly to the Koli women who sell fish, they will go to their shooting sets and feed them rotten fish.

The insults done by the immigrant Usgaonkar from Goa to the hardworking Koli women of Maharashtra will never be tolerated. Khant Patil expressed regret that unfortunately, the picture of the original citizens of Upper Mumbai who came from outside Mumbai and sat on the neck of the Koli society is now becoming a daily occurrence. Koli women have been asked by the online app which boat they use to fish, asking why they would sell bad fish when their husbands are fishermen themselves.

… then sue in court
The online app that displayed this ad should apologize to Koli women or face a legal notice. Also, this advertisement should be removed from all media, otherwise a lawsuit will be filed against the relevant company in the court. Kamalakar Kandekar gave. Usgaonkar could not be contacted to inquire about this.
