How can a BJP government be formed in Maharashtra? The whole equation will depend on these things

Mumbai: The entire country is watching the ongoing political developments in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray’s government seems to be in trouble due to the revolt of Shiv Sena leader and state government minister Eknath Shinde. Shinde, who has been angry for the past few days, has become unreachable after yesterday’s vote for the Legislative Council. Along with Shinde, there are 22 MLAs. Along with this, 4 more MLAs also supported Shinde. As a result, 26 MLAs in the government have been reduced. With so much going on in the ruling party in the state, the BJP, which has the most seats in the Assembly, does not seem to be moving.

Earlier on November 23, 2019, Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister. Of course, Sharad Pawar also won after that. The BJP, which has the experience of this incident, is currently playing the role of wait and watch. The state needs 145 MLAs to form the government. The BJP has 105 MLAs of its own, they need 39 MLAs to form the government. Even if they get this number, even if MLAs from other parties come with them due to the secession law, it may be a problem for them in future.

The BJP will not be able to form a government unless Eknath Shinde or 36 MLAs from other parties join the BJP. Shiv Sena has 54 MLAs, if its 36 MLAs leave then BJP could form the government. Congress has 44 MLAs, now it is understood that its 10 MLAs are not reachable. BJP will benefit only if at least 29 Congress MLAs leave. This is one of the reasons why BJP is taking cautious steps. If only the MLAs are brought together, the government will be formed but it will not last due to the secession law.

Total members of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly – 288
BJP-106
Shiv Sena-55
Nationalist-52
Congress-44
Others and Independents – 30

Before Shinde’s mutiny, the Thackeray government had the support of 169 MLAs. There were 55 MLAs from Shiv Sena, 52 from NCP and 44 from Congress. Apart from that, there were 2 independent MLAs from Samajwadi Party, 2 from PJP and 3 from BVA. At present, Shinde has 22 MLAs with him. Along with 4 others. The BJP has 106 MLAs and 113 MLAs.

Number for majority – 145 (2 MLAs jailed and one dies)

How much with Eknath Shinde? – 22 Shiv Sena + 4 Independents together 26 in total

BJP + Shinde = 132
