Traffic Bottleneck at Newalewasti Chowk eased after MLA Landge’s Intervention
Local stakeholders cooperate to clear major obstructions; commuters finally get relief
Pimpri: After months of heavy traffic congestion at Newalewasti Chowk in Chikhali, commuters can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Thanks to the prompt intervention by BJP MLA of Bhosari Mahesh Landge and cooperation from local landowners has cleared major obstructions that were causing severe delays on the Sane Chowk-Nevle Vasti stretch.
The bottleneck, a frequent source of frustration for thousands of daily commuters, had long been aggravated by a tin compound and a Mahavitaran Distribution Point (DP) that encroached upon the road. Upon receiving multiple complaints from local residents and activists, MLA Landge stepped in to address the issue.
In a key meeting with landowners S.B. Patil and the Malekar family, Landge appealed for their cooperation in the public interest. The landowners responded positively, agreeing to move the obstructing structure back by 10 feet, thereby allowing the road to be widened.
Road Widening Underway…
With the compound now moved back, work on widening the road has commenced, providing immediate relief to commuters. Additionally, a Mahavitaran DP that had been a major obstacle at Nevle Vasti Chowk is being relocated following MLA Landge’s discussions with the power utility. The DP’s position had been a significant cause of congestion, particularly during rush hours, leading to long traffic jams and daily inconvenience for commuters.
Speaking on the development, MLA Mahesh Landge said, “We have been working continuously to resolve traffic congestion across the Bhosari constituency. Several traffic ‘hot spots’ have been identified, and efforts are underway in coordination with the Municipal Corporation, Mahavitaran, and traffic police to address these issues. The situation between Sane Chowk and Nevle Vasti was particularly challenging for daily commuters. The timely intervention by Mr. S.B. Patil and the Malekar family has been crucial in resolving the issue, and we are optimistic that this will significantly improve traffic flow in the area.”
Positive Impact on Commuters
The resolution of the traffic bottleneck is expected to bring considerable relief to the thousands of commuters who use this route daily. The ongoing road-widening project, along with the removal of the DP, is projected to drastically reduce traffic congestion, making the stretch more navigable and less time-consuming for motorists.
This successful resolution stands as an example of effective cooperation between local authorities and residents, ensuring smoother transport infrastructure and a better commuting experience for citizens.
