“The Country Has Lost an Administrator and Economist with the Death of Dr. Manmohan Singh,” Says Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai | Dr. Manmohan Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister for two consecutive terms and was the architect of the historic economic reforms of 1991, passed away yesterday at the age of 92. He was admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi in a critical condition yesterday evening, and the hospital announced his death at 9:51 PM through a press release. Following this, all scheduled government events were canceled.
A seven-day national mourning has been declared following Dr. Manmohan Singh’s death. Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed his condolences. He stated that the country has lost an outstanding administrator and economist with the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
In his condolence message, Chief Minister Fadnavis said, “Dr. Manmohan Singh worked in various roles, including as the Governor of the Reserve Bank, Finance Minister, and Prime Minister, always striving to deliver justice to the citizens of the country. He made efforts to carve out his own distinct place in Indian politics. He also authored extensive writings related to economics. The work he did will always be remembered by the citizens of the country. I offer my heartfelt tributes to him. I share the sorrow of his family and admirers. I pray that his family finds the strength to bear this loss.”
