Inauguration of Pushpalata D.Y. Patil Hospital by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Pimpri Chinchwad | Focusing on primary healthcare reduces the burden on specialized referral services. Therefore, emphasis will be placed on developing a comprehensive network of primary healthcare services across the state, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He added that the state government has decided to restructure the healthcare system in line with this vision.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Pushpalata D.Y. Patil Hospital at Ambi-Taranganwadi in Maval taluka. On this occasion, Member of Parliament Shrirang Barne, MLA Sunil Shelke, President and Chancellor of D.Y. Patil University, Navi Mumbai Dr. Vijay Patil, Chancellor of D.Y. Patil University, Kolhapur Sanjay Patil, Vice President and Pro-Chancellor of D.Y. Patil University, Navi Mumbai Dr. Shivani Patil, Former Minister of State Sanjay alias Bala Bhegade, industrialist Ramdas Kakade, and others were present.

The Chief Minister said that the implementation of various state government schemes is being effectively done through the university. Through the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, treatment up to ₹5 lakh is being provided free of charge. These schemes, offering insurance and assured services, are ensuring medical treatment for even the poorest of patients. Along with strengthening primary healthcare, secondary-level health services will also be reinforced. Government hospitals, universities, and private hospitals are available for specialized treatments. There is a significant push for investment in the healthcare sector. In recent years, 10 medical colleges have been established, and every district is planned to have such a college. The government has also decided to reimburse the tuition fees of female medical students. This initiative is leading to a significant expansion and enhancement in the quality of the education sector. The university should continue its efforts to establish hospitals and educational complexes in new locations. Since this is done with a spirit of social service, the government will fully support such initiatives.

Highlighting the role of Dr. D.Y. Patil in bringing a revolution in the field of education in Maharashtra and providing opportunities in technical and medical education, CM Fadnavis noted that the privatization of higher education in the state enabled individuals like Dr. D.Y. Patil to establish institutions that contributed significantly to the expansion of higher education. As a result, many students have gained access to educational opportunities. The D.Y. Patil family has started seven private universities in the state and introduced quality academic programs. They have ensured quality education without compromising standards by providing excellent academic facilities. The values instilled by Pushpalata Patil played a crucial role in this journey, which is why the hospital has been named after her.

Pushpalata D.Y. Patil Hospital has been equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and is poised to become a boon for the region. The hospital will provide quality treatment at low costs to people from the industrial area and the surrounding regions. Dr. Vijay Patil has reserved 70 beds for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. So far, around 12,000 to 15,000 patients referred by the fund have received treatment here, the CM added.

In his introductory speech, Chancellor Dr. Patil provided details about the hospital. He assured that all healthcare services would be made available to common citizens. He encouraged the local population to benefit from government schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana.
