Draft Ward Structure to Be Published on July 22; Political Activity Intensifies
Pimpri-Chinchwad | Special Correspondent: The battle drums for the upcoming municipal elections have begun to beat. With the announcement of the ward delimitation schedule by the Election Commission, political movements in Pimpri-Chinchwad city have gained momentum. According to the schedule announced by the commission, the draft ward structure will be published on July 22, 2025.
The Election Commission has initiated all necessary processes for ward delimitation. The draft ward structure will soon be released, inviting objections and suggestions from citizens, political parties, and aspiring candidates. Following this, hearings will be conducted, and the final decision will be submitted to the Election Commission for approval on August 18. Notably, the final ward structure will be published between August 29 and September 4, 2025. This has effectively set the stage for elections to be held in October–November 2025.

Ward delimitation is considered the most crucial stage before any election. The dissolution, merger, or creation of new wards directly impacts political dynamics. As a result, excitement is running high among aspiring corporators, former office-bearers, and new candidates.

The new ward structure will change the demographics of electoral constituencies. Some wards will be reserved for Scheduled Castes/Tribes, others for women, and new competitions will emerge in open-category wards. It is expected that the formal election process will begin immediately after the ward structure is finalized. Consequently, all political parties have begun crafting their strategies.
