Food i.e. Prasad customs during Ganeshotsav in various states

Modaka means sweet dumpling, a traditional contribution and offering on Ganesh Chaturthi. Sweets required during the festival are (modak in Marathi and Konkani, modakam or kudumu in Telugu, modak or kadubu in Kannada, kozhukatta or modakam in Malayalam, and kozukattai or modgam in Tamil). “Modak is a dumpling made using rice or wheat flour, ground coconut, [गूळ]dried products of earthen sauces and steamed or cooked” -[विकिपीडिया]. Another well-known sweet dish is karanji (karjikai in Kannada), like a modak in texture and taste in a half-circle shape. This sweet feast is called Never in Goa and is inseparable from the Ganesh festival among Goan and Konkani travelers.

“In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, modak, ladoo, vundraloo (steamed, savory rice-flour balls), panakam (a jaggery-, black pepper-and cardamom-enhanced drink), vadappappu (soaked mung lentils), and chalividi (cooked rice) batter and a mixture of jaggery) is offered to Ganesha ”- [विकिपीडिया]. This contribution is known as Naivedya, and a plate of Modaka usually contains 21 bits of sweet. Goa is famous for Modak and the Goan version of Idli (Sanna).

Panchakajaya is a contribution to Ganapati during this festival in the Carnatic tracts. It is a mixture of parach coconut, cooked bengal gram powder, sugar, ghee and sesame seeds. Various forms of Panchakajaya are made. Cooked bengal gram, gram, boiled gram dal (butane) or amla can be used. Such foods are used as prasad during Ganeshotsav.
