After Thane, Pune Also Considers Using TDR for Quality Road Construction
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Participates in CREDAI’s Newly Appointed Office Bearers' Felicitation Program

Pune | Following the successful implementation of TDR (Transferable Development Rights) in Thane for constructing good-quality roads, the state is now considering using a similar model in Pune. During the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed office bearers of CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India), Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde indicated this possibility.
CREDAI’s new president Manish Jain and other newly elected members took charge during the event. Also present were CREDAI officials including Rajan Bandal, Jain, Rathi, Salil Moolya, and Lalitkumar Jain.
Speaking at the event, Deputy CM Shinde said:
“TDR has played an important role in development projects. It has been used effectively in cities like Thane, Mumbai, and others. Now we are thinking of implementing the same in Pune for improving roads and infrastructure. This will ensure quality construction work while also addressing financial constraints.”
He emphasized the need to prioritize development planning in a way that ensures sustainable urban growth. He also highlighted the importance of land acquisition through TDR for road construction and other infrastructure projects.
Shinde added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state is moving forward rapidly in terms of development and infrastructure. TDR is seen as a viable method for acquiring land without heavy financial burden.
- Affordable Housing for Common Citizens
CREDAI pointed out that post-COVID, there is a huge demand for affordable housing. Shinde noted that TDR and similar models will help builders and developers meet this demand efficiently and that the government is supportive of such constructive initiatives.
The newly elected president Manish Jain expressed gratitude for the government’s support and assured that CREDAI will continue to work for the betterment of the industry and society.
