ED has taken a major action today (Friday) in the case of Delhi’s liquor policy scam. ED has raided 40 locations across the country including Delhi and Telangana. The raids are underway in Punjab, Telangana, Nellore, Chennai and Delhi NCR. Apart from this, raids have been conducted at 20 places in Hyderabad as well. ED is conducting raids at around 40 locations in several states in the Delhi Excise Department policy case.
ED raids at 40 locations across the country
Earlier on September 6 also, ED conducted raids at many places across the country. The ED had raided several places including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Gurugram. The BJP has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi of running a scam through the new liquor policy.
The ED raided around 40 places in connection with its probe into a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in Delhi’s new excise duty policy, an official said. Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal government waived crores of rupees worth of loans to the liquor mafia, the BJP has alleged that the Delhi government’s decision has resulted in a huge loss of revenue. The ED is conducting raids on the premises of people who were involved in making Delhi’s new liquor policy or who benefited from the new excise policy. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is accused of giving Rs 30 crore discount to liquor traders. The license holders are informed that they have been given extension as per their wish. Liquor policy rules have been framed in violation of excise department rules.
