New Delhi | Mahaenews | Web Desk

The students protesters of JMIU (Jamia Milia Islamia University) on Tuesday marched at Mandi House in central Delhi. In the view of security Delhi Police has imposed section 144 of IPC in the area. The permission to hold protest was denied by the authorities. Three troupes of Delhi Police and two of CRPF have been deployed in the area.

The law promises citizenship to “illegal immigrants” belonging to minority which communities are from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. They fled religious persecution in the three countries.

The critics are saying that the law is against the secular nature of the Indian Constitution. The law clubbed with the NRC may be misused to strip away some Muslim’s citizenship in the country.

The BJP has argued that the law has nothing to do with India’s Muslims and only helps those who fled religious persecution in the neighbouring countries.
