The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to establish an international multipurpose sports complex in Moshi. The tender for this project has been issued, and work will commence once the tender process is completed.

BJP MLA Mahesh Landge had envisioned transforming Pimpri-Chinchwad into a sports hub. In line with this vision, several ambitious projects have been initiated. He had been persistently advocating for the establishment of the international multipurpose sports complex, and his efforts have paid off.

The sports complex is set to be built on reserved land in survey numbers 442 (P) and 445 (P) in Mauje Moshi under reservation no. 1/204 in the approved development plan. The project was sanctioned by the PCMC on July 25, 2023, during their 391st meeting. The proposed site covers 4.56 hectares and will include a stadium.

Inspired by the success of a sports club developed by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, a similar world-class multipurpose sports facility will now be created in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The complex will provide facilities for a variety of sports, including cricket, football, volleyball, baseball, and swimming, giving local athletes a significant boost. It will also provide a steady revenue stream for the PCMC through property taxes. The project will be built under the “Build, Fund, Operate, and Transfer” (PPP) model, ensuring no direct financial burden on the municipal corporation.

“We made the commitment to turn Pimpri-Chinchwad into a ‘Sports City’ under our ‘Bhosari Vision-2020’. As part of this, several projects, including international kabaddi, wrestling, and boxing training centers, as well as a skating ground, have already been implemented. In the future, we aim to establish the Pimpri-Chinchwad Sports Club, with plans underway at Annasaheb Magar Stadium in Nehrunagar. We also hope that the administration will expedite the tender process and begin the construction of the international multipurpose sports complex in Moshi, while laying the foundation for the State Sports University,” said Mahesh Landge, BJP MLA, Bhosari Assembly, Pimpri-Chinchwad.
