Ratnagiri: A 35-year-old truck driver died on the spot in a severe accident at Lanja on the Mumbai-Goa highway. The truck and the Ertiga car had a terrible accident. The accident happened late Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Vijesh Vilas Sawant (resident of Punas, Tal. Lanja). Meanwhile, another person in the car is reported to have died in the accident. Could not understand this person’s name. All the Shinde family in the car is from Chiplun. The car flew towards the river from the bridge of Kajali river in Anjanari ghat. There were four people in the car. The car was heading towards Mumbai. The truck was on its way to Goa. A truck and a car crashed on a sooty river bridge. Four people in the car were seriously injured in the accident. He has been shifted to Ratnagiri Civil Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, preliminary information is being received that this horrific accident was caused due to brake failure of the truck. Both vehicles fell off the bridge after an Ortiga car crash in this horrific accident. Truck driver Vijay Sawant died on the spot. Ertiga driver Sameer Pradip Shinde, his mother Suhasini Pradip Shinde (61), Samir Shinde’s wife Samrudhi Shinde (29) and father Pradip Himmatrao Shinde (65) were also killed in the accident. One person was seriously injured.
Shinde was driving. He was working at Mumbai Marol Police Training Center. His condition is critical and the death toll is expected to rise. One person in the car was reported dead and the exact name could not be ascertained. The work of registering the names of the injured in the accident started till late midnight on Sunday. Further investigations are being carried out by the Lanza police.
