Puntamba farmers’ agitation postponed for 3 months; Announcement after discussions with the government

Punatamba: Kisan Kranti has announced that the farmers’ agitation in Puntamba village is being postponed for the next three months for various demands of the farmers. The decision was taken unanimously by holding a special gram sabha in Puntamba village after discussions with the state government. The members of the core committee have claimed that 70% of the demands from the government have been met. The farmers of Puntamba village in Ahmednagar district had raised the issue of agitation by raising various issues. Attempts were made to attract the attention of the government by holding a dam agitation in Puntamba village from 1st to 5th June. The state government immediately took note of the agitation and held discussions with a delegation of farmers in Mumbai. After that a special Gram Sabha was held at Puntamba under the chairmanship of Sarpanch Dhananjay Dhanwate to decide the future direction of the movement.
In 2017, the spark of farmers’ agitation had spread in the entire state from Puntamba village. As a result, a historic farmers’ strike took place. Now again the farmers in Puntamba started agitation on behalf of Kisan Kranti at Puntamba for various demands of the farmers. The agitation was supported by farmers ‘organizations and farmers’ leaders across the state. The state government also took immediate notice of the agitation. Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat and Congress state president Nana Patole visited the protest site and understood the demands of the farmers.
State Agriculture Minister Dada Bhuse also came to Puntamba village to discuss with the protesters and invited them to a meeting in the hall of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Accordingly, a joint meeting was held on 7th June with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Agriculture Minister Dada Bhuse, Ministers of various departments, their secretaries and a delegation of agitating farmers. During the meeting which lasted for three hours, most of the demands related to the state were positively discussed, said Sarpanch Dhananjay Dhanwate, Dhananjay Jadhav, Balasaheb Chavan and Suhas Vahadne, members of the core committee.
Decisions taken by the government on 16 demands of farmers
– Interest penalty for overdue electricity bill will be waived
– Fifty percent electricity bill of agricultural pumps will be waived आश्वासन Assurance of early decision from state government
– Will try to provide electricity for agriculture during the day
– Solar pump will be provided to the full electricity bill payer
– 60% subsidy will be given for solar pumps
– Will grind sugarcane till 15th June
– If there is sugarcane left without sifting, subsidy will be given
– After 15th June, after reviewing the remaining sugarcane, the government will give subsidy to sugarcane
– Government refuses to pay Rs
– Government refuses to subsidize onions
– Will follow up with the Center for onion guarantee
– Will follow up with the Center for import-export policy
– A committee will be constituted for ARP of milk
– The Center will follow up to ensure a single price of milk across the country
-It is impossible to guarantee milk due to difference in milk price
– Follow up with Center to fix prices of fruits and vegetables
– Regular loan payers will be given a grant of Rs. 50,000
– From July 1, the grant will be credited directly to the borrower’s account
– Farmers in the state will get ten thousand crore
– Debt waiver will soon be available to those who have a debt of more than two lakhs
– The remaining Rs 2 lakh will have to be paid by the farmers. The state government will take a decision soon
– State Government delegation will visit Central Government for onion and wheat import and export policy
– Solar pumps will be provided to the farmers
– To set up a system for crop observation through satellite
– Will follow up with the Center for fertilizer subsidy
– Wells will be provided to farmers with an area of less than five acres
– Insurance of Rs. 2 lakhs for a farming family
– Crimes of farmers strike in 2017 will be withdrawn
– If there is no loss of public property or loss of life, the offense will be withdrawn
