Prithviraj Chavan elected full time President of Congress

Mumbai: ‘According to the constitution of the Congress party, no elections have been held in the last 24 years. No members of the Congress Executive, Parliamentary Board or Election Committee have been elected. The current president is also an interim president. Therefore, the Congress now needs a full-time elected president; Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan has made it clear that he belongs to any family.

In an interview with the Times of India’s website, Chavan elaborated. Chavan was one of the 23 disgruntled leaders in the Congress. In the interview, Chavan said, “A leader like Kapil Sibal is upset and is contesting the Rajya Sabha elections with the support of another party. The unrest in the party has come from that. 23 of us had written a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi in this regard. To fight against Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, the party needs a president who is working full time and will meet the workers every day.
‘Congress has not held elections in the last 24 years. Now this election must take place to give way to new blood. Congress wants a new president, he needs to be elected; Even if he is a member of any family. If there is a full time president, it is possible to discuss with the co-operative parties. There is clarity in them too. It is necessary to lead the opposition, “he said.

He further said, ‘The party camp at Udaipur was not a meditation camp; So there was a new resolution camp. It was necessary to find out the mistakes made by contemplation and to remedy them. It is difficult to find a way to the future without doing that. To give just one example, while campaigning during the recent elections in Goa, voters there asked us why the Congress did not form a government after the last elections. We didn’t have the answer. ‘

The challenge of answering BJP’s Hindutva

“The biggest challenge is how the Congress will respond to the BJP’s Hindutva program,” Chavan said. To some extent, it is also a purchase. The issue was also discussed at the Udaipur camp but no decision could be taken on it. Determining the role of the party on such issues is a big challenge for the leadership. Tomorrow, the Congress will also take up the issue of Hindutva. Therefore, there is a need for clarity at the theoretical level on such issues.
