Amit Shah will decide the police and municipal commissioner

Mumbai. Mahanews. Special Representative.

After the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state, the Shinde-Fadnavis coalition government came to power two and a half months ago. It can be seen that many administrative changes are taking place after the formation of the Shinde government. In the run-up to the upcoming Mumbai Municipal Elections, intense lobbying is going on to bring back Additional Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, who has gone on deputation to the Centre. There is a strong possibility that Rashmi Shukla will get the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner directly in the Shinde-Fadnavis government. There are speculations that she will be appointed as the Commissioner of Police instead of Rajnish Sheth, who is the Director General of Police in charge. Earlier, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister had the power to appoint the Commissioner of Police or the Director General of the state. But now it is believed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will single-handedly decide who will be the Commissioner of Police of Mumbai, who will be the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation or who will be the Director General of Police of the state. Transfers of senior police officers are expected in the coming weeks and it is believed that Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis will give his final stamp on the list of transfers only after discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The state government has appointed IPS officer Vivek Phansalkar as Mumbai Police Commissioner on June 30. Senior IPS officer Vivek Phansalkar took charge after the retirement of Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey. There is a high possibility that Rashmi Shukla, who has now gone on deputation in the SRPF, will be appointed in that place. Rashmi Shukla is considered close to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. After the 2019 assembly elections, the Shiv Sena formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi government along with the Congress and the NCP, threatening the BJP. During the 36 days of this political drama, Rashmi Shukla is accused of tapping the phones of the major leaders of the Mahavikas Aghadi to get information about their movements.

The phones of Sanjay Raut, Nana Patole, Eknath Khadse were tapped on the request of Rashmi Shukla, head of the State Intelligence Department. Rashmi Shukla was in trouble after the fake names of the leaders whose phones were tapped were revealed. All this was alleged by Rashmi Shukla at the behest of Devendra Fadnavis, state president of Congress, Nana Patole. After these allegations, Rashmi Shukla was sent to the CRPF by the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on deputation at the Centre. Now she is likely to return to Maharashtra again after one and a half years. His deputation period of three years ends on June 2024.

But whether to send them from the Center to Maharashtra or not is not in the hands of Devendra Fadnavis, even though he is the Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of the state. Only after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s green signal, transfers and promotions of senior policemen will now take place in Maharashtra. It is interesting to know from the reliable sources of BJP that not only Mumbai Police Commissioner or Director General of Police, but also the Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation will now be made according to the will of Amit Shah. Elections for 15 Municipal Corporations in the state including Mumbai Municipal Corporation will be held in the next six months. Therefore, BJP is planning a strategy that officers of their choice should be on the post of police commissioner and municipal commissioner of that city. There is a ruckus among senior BJP leaders to install Rashmi Shukla as Mumbai Police Commissioner, State Director General of Police or Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau. Also, Deven Bharti, Brijesh Singh, Vinay Choubey, Ashutosh Dumbre who are on side posting are likely to be appointed as Commissioners of Police Thane, Navi Mumbai and Mira Bhayander.

Also, senior IPS officers who have completed two years of service will also be transferred soon, and the list of transfers will be sealed after the return of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from his Russia tour. These transfers include Bhushan Upadhyay, Sadanand Date, Bipin Kumar Singh, Vinay Kargaonkar, Amitabh Gupta, Ashutosh Dumbre, Sukhwinder Singh, V. K. Chaubey, Amitesh Kumar, Ravinder Kumar Singal, Vishwas Nangre Patil, Rajkumar Vatkar, KM Prasanna, M. S Lohia, V Jadhav, Lakhmi Gautam, Sanjay Darade, Dnyaneshwar Chavan, S. H. Mahavarkar, N. P. Two dozen IPS officers like Tamboli, Chandrakishore Meena, Aarti Singh, Sachin Patil are also likely to be transferred soon. Therefore, in the coming days, we can see major changes in the police department as well.
