PCMC launches ‘Swachh Teerth Abhiyan’ in city

Cleanliness drive to be organized across 53 temples

Pimpri | Under the Union Government’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” the Health Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched “Swachh Teerth Abhiyan”. Under this, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh has informed that the cleanliness campaign will be implemented in around 53 temples in the city till January 21.

On January 22, the idol of Lord Shri Rama will be consecrated in Ayodhya. Against this background, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Government of India has ordered the Municipal Corporations to carry out cleanliness drives in religious places and their localities.

Accordingly, a cleanliness drive will be conducted in 53 temples of Pimpri Chinchwad city. In this campaign, instructions have been given to collect usable items and deposit them at the nearest RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) centre in the field office, arrange clean urns to collect the clean waste generated in the temple area, and create public awareness about plastic ban etc.

The campaign will be implemented by involving officers, employees, temple functionaries, employees, former corporators of the ward, citizens, schools and college students, charitable organizations, and women’s self-help groups. Every day before, during and after the Swachh Teerth Abhiyan campaign, 5 geotags will be photographed and uploaded on the website of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Cleanliness drive across 17 major roads, squares

Pimpri Chinchwad city has eight zonal offices, and 32 wards and Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde has directed to carry out a thorough cleaning campaign in all these wards. The cleanliness drive will start from 7 am to 2 pm in various parts of the city. Also, 17 roads and squares will be cleaned thoroughly. PCMC Assistant Commissioner Yashwant Dange said that coordination is being done with the Traffic police for the same.

Deep cleaning campaign will be conducted in each ward

According to the Union government orders, Swachh Teertha Abhiyan is being implemented in 53 temples of the city till January 21. Former corporators, representatives of various social organizations, and citizens should participate in this campaign. At the same time, as per the instructions of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, a thorough cleaning campaign is being implemented in every ward.

Mandatory for Zonal officers to submit daily cleanliness info

It is mandatory to give information of up to 50 words about the program to the health department including the name, ward number, participating officers, employees, former corporators, organizations, and numbers of the temple which has been cleaned under Swachh Teerth Abhiyan.
