Ordering ‘cake’ online became expensive; 1 lakh 67 thousand missing from woman’s bank account

Pimpri: In the city of Pimpri Chinchwad, the incidence of online fraud is increasing day by day. A woman from Moshi has also fallen prey to such online fraud. As much as 1 lakh 67 thousand 230 rupees has disappeared from the bank account while making the online payment for the cake ordered by her. The concerned woman, who was cheated, has registered a case against unknown (d.02) in Bhosari MIDC police station in this regard.
According to the police, a woman residing in Destination Ostia Society in Moshi placed an online cake order on March 04, 2022 through the website Cakes N More – On Cake Delivery in Pune. The unknown person then sent the scanner to the woman via WhatsApp for online payment of the cake. When the woman scanned the scanner with her mobile phone, 1 lakh 67 thousand 230 rupees were transferred from her bank account.
After realizing that money was stolen from her bank account while making an online payment, the concerned woman has filed a case against an unknown person in the Bhosari MIDC police. Police Inspector Mr. Patil of Crime Branch is conducting the further investigation.
