The excitement of Ganeshotsav abroad too…

In India, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in every home and in public places in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa and in the southern states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and nearby local gatherings. And Ganeshotsav is also celebrated with great enthusiasm in the eastern provinces of West Bengal and Odisha. Similarly British Hindus have appreciated Ganesha Chaturthi in UK i.e. London. The Hindu Culture and Heritage Society, a Southall-based association, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi at Vishwa Hindu Temple in 2005 without paying for London; and immersed Ganesha in the River Thames at the iconic Putney Pier. Another festival coordinated by the Gujarati group was hailed in Southend-on-Sea. An annual Hindu festival is also held on the River Mersey in Liverpool.
The Philadelphia Ganesha Utsav is one of the most famous Ganesha Chaturthi festivals in North America and is celebrated in Canada (especially the Toronto region), Mauritius, Malaysia and Singapore. The Mauritius festival dates back to 1896 and has been made a public event by the Government of Mauritius. In Malaysia and Singapore, the festival is known as Vinayagar Chaturthi for the large Tamil-speaking Hindu minority.
