The flag of the youth of Wadgaon in Mavla in the defense examination; 20th in the country in ‘CDS’ exam

Lonavla: Aditya Vivek Gaikwad from Wadgaon Maval has been ranked 20th in the country in the Combined Defense Services (CDS) examination conducted by the Central Public Service Commission. Aditya will soon be undergoing training at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. His success has further enhanced the reputation of Wadgaon.

The Combined Defense Services (CDS) examination is conducted through the Central Public Service Commission to enlist in the Defense Forces after graduation. Through this test, the youth get the opportunity to become officers in all the three forces of the Army. Candidates are called for ‘SSB’ interview on the basis of their marks in this examination. This interview is followed by a variety of tests followed by a medical test. Candidates are then selected for the final training on the basis of these three marks, namely the basic entrance test, interview and medical test. The Central Public Service Commission recently announced the results of the CDS examination. Aditya Gaikwad is 20th in the country.

The entrance exam is considered to be extremely difficult to become an officer in the Defense Forces. However, Aditya succeeded in his first attempt at the CDS exam. This year, nearly two lakh students across the country had appeared for the entrance exam. Out of which four and a half thousand students qualified for the written test. Out of these, only 142 students have been selected. Aditya holds a B.Tech degree from Devagiri Institute of Engineering and Management Studies, Aurangabad. Aditya’s father Colonel Vivek Gaikwad, who grew up in Wadgaon Maval, is currently on duty in Assam. Under his guidance, Aditya has achieved this without any teaching. This is a matter of pride for the people of Wadgaon. After completing his training at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Aditya will join the Executive Branch of the Indian Naval Academy. Upon commissioning, he will be the second generation officer in his family in the Armed Forces.

‘Dream of becoming a Naval Pilot’

Aditya said of his success, ‘Before anyone else believes in us, we must believe in ourselves. The goal is achieved through self-belief, hard work and dedication, ‘said Aditya, adding that his dream is to become a naval pilot. Aditya’s father, Col. Vivek Gaikwad, said that after completing his B.Tech degree, Aditya decided to leave his scholarship in Germany for post-graduate studies and enlist in the army for the service of the country.
