Potential Outbreak of HMPV: Vigilance Regarding Cold and Cough Patients in the City
MLA Mahesh Landge Holds Review Meeting at the Municipal Corporation Building

Pimpri Chinchwad | The threat of the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) has been increasing in the state. In light of this, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has become alert. A survey of cold and cough patients in the city will be conducted. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shekhar Singh and other officials have taken a positive approach regarding this matter.
To address the potential threat of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) and to ensure precautionary measures, BJP leader and MLA Mahesh Landge held a review meeting with Commissioner Shekhar Singh and officials from the relevant departments at the Municipal Corporation building. Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, City Engineer Makrand Nikam, Environment Department’s Sanjay Kulkarni, Assistant City Engineer Babasaheb Galbale, and others were present at the meeting.
MLA Mahesh Landge emphasized that the administration must be cautious about infectious diseases in the city. He suggested that if patients with cold and cough visit the municipal hospitals, their records should be kept separately. The number of such patients and their symptoms should be closely monitored. It is necessary to check whether the number of cold and cough patients is increasing and whether they are showing any other symptoms. A survey of these patients should be conducted across the city.
Since Pimpri-Chinchwad is an industrial hub, people are constantly traveling for work from various places. There have been reports of two cases of this disease in Nagpur. Therefore, strict precautionary measures need to be implemented in the city. MLA Landge has instructed the administration to take preventive measures regarding HMPV, in addition to keeping track of these patients. He emphasized that the health of the citizens is the top priority and assured that actions are being taken to ensure that there will be no inconvenience to the citizens regarding their health concerns.
