MLA Mahesh Landge : ‘Medicity’ Project Gathers Momentum in Pimpri-Chinchwad!

Pimpri-Chinchwad | Correspondent । Known for its identity as an industrial hub and metro city, Pimpri-Chinchwad is now witnessing movements to develop a ‘Medicity’ project. This ambitious initiative is expected to boost the city’s reputation in medical services and research. BJP MLA Mahesh Landge has taken the initiative for this project.

MLA Landge has submitted a proposal to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the development of the Medicity project. In the letter, he stated that Pimpri-Chinchwad currently has a population of around 3 million. With the city undergoing rapid urbanization and expansion, it is expected to exceed a population of 5 million by 2045.

A significant number of citizens from Khed, Alandi, Manchar, Shirur, and Junnar areas of northern Pune district migrate to Pimpri-Chinchwad for employment and business opportunities. Located between the old and new Mumbai-Pune highways and the spiritual towns of Dehu and Alandi, Pimpri-Chinchwad holds crucial connectivity with Pune-Nagar, Pune-Nashik, and Pune-Mumbai routes.

A ring road is also proposed through the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and the state government. In this context, it is proposed that the Medicity project be developed on PMRDA land in Moshi, a central location of the ‘Future City’ Pimpri-Chinchwad. This would lead to the establishment of medical education, research, and treatment facilities in the northern part of Pune district.

Meeting with CM Fadnavis to be held…

It is feasible to develop the Medicity project in the centrally located PMRDA land in Moshi for the ‘Future City’ Pimpri-Chinchwad. A request has been made to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to convene a meeting with officials from PMRDA and related departments regarding this. Meanwhile, a land search campaign will be launched at the administrative level of PMRDA to finalize the location for Medicity. If developed in Moshi and nearby areas included in the Bhosari Assembly constituency, this Medicity will become a major facility for both urban and rural residents.

Through the Medicity project, if various medical facilities, hospitals, research centers, and medical educational institutions are made available, it will accelerate the development of not only Pimpri-Chinchwad but also the northern Pune district. This initiative will be a milestone in the progressive journey of the city. If all reputed hospitals are available in one place, it will save citizens both time and money. Pimpri-Chinchwad should earn a new identity as Pimpri-Chinchwad Medicity. We will continue to strongly pursue this matter with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
