Goldsmith Community Celebrates: MLA Mahesh Landage’s Efforts Lead to the Establishment of a Financial Development Corporation
Pimpri | The long-standing demand of the Goldsmith community for a dedicated financial development corporation has finally been met, thanks to the efforts of MLA Mahesh Landage. This was announced by Kailas Bhamburdekar, the national president of the All India Goldsmiths Association.
The state government has approved the establishment of the Sant Narhari Maharaj Economic Development Corporation for the Goldsmith community. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on September 30 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Bhamburdekar expressed his gratitude, stating that the community had been demanding this corporation for the past 20 years. “MLA Mahesh Landage took up this issue with the state government and successfully pursued it,” he said.
The Goldsmith community, though skilled and entrepreneurial, has a significant portion of its population below the poverty line. The newly formed corporation aims to provide employment opportunities, business incentives, and educational support to the youth of the community.
The corporation will be a subsidiary of the Maharashtra State Backward Class Finance and Development Corporation. It will have a headquarters in Mumbai and an initial capital of 50 crore rupees. Sixteen positions will be created under this corporation.
Bhamburdekar further stated that a delegation from the All India Goldsmiths Association had met with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss this issue. Following this meeting, MLA Mahesh Landage took up the matter and ensured its successful resolution.
