Mumbai: The two-day special session of the Legislative Assembly has started from today. BJP’s Rahul Narvekar and Shiv Sena’s Rajan Salvi were to contest for the post. In this, BJP’s Rahul Narvekar has been elected as the Speaker of the Assembly. Vice President Narhari Jirwal has announced that Rahul Narvekar has been elected as the Speaker of the Assembly.

After the election of Rahul Narvekar as the Speaker of the Assembly, ‘Jai Shriram’ was announced in the House. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took Rahul Narvekar to the chair. Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Rajan Salvi got a total of 107 votes. After completing 100 votes, they were welcomed with applause. Three MLAs remained neutral, including the Samajwadi Party and the MIM.

Rahul Narvekar has finally been elected as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Voting in the assembly passed in a big commotion. Rahul Narvekar from BJP and Rajan Salvi from Mahavikas Aghadi were in the fray. Narvekar won the match. He has become the youngest assembly speaker in the history of the state. After the head count, Narvekar got 164 votes more than the majority. Rajan Salvi got 107 votes. Samajwadi Party and AIM MLAs abstained. A total of three MLAs remained neutral. In this way, the Norwegians won by a large margin. Now the role of the president is going to be important. Because the majority test of the Shinde-Fadnavis government will also be passed tomorrow.

Chandrakant Patil proposed to elect Rahul Narvekar as the President and it was approved by Girish Mahajan. Chetan Tupe proposed Salvi, while Sangram Thopte approved. The newly formed Shinde government will have to face a majority test. The president is elected on the first day of the legislative session. The Shinde government had sealed the name of Rahul Narvekar for the post of Assembly Speaker, while the Mahavikas Alliance had fielded Rajan Salvi at the last minute. Looking at the strength of Eknath Shinde’s group and the BJP, it was almost certain that Rahul Narvekar would be the Speaker of the Assembly.
