Blood sandalwood worth Rs. There were stocks under the potato sacks

Ahmednagar: Police have seized a stock of 7.5 tonnes of sandalwood hidden in a warehouse in Nagar MIDC. The value of this sandalwood is said to be around Rs. One accused has been arrested in the case and further action is being taken by the police.

Assistant Inspector of Police Yuvraj Aathare said, “We have received information that the smuggled blood sandalwood was kept in a warehouse owned by Sadashiv Jhaware in MIDC area.” Accordingly, the police raided there. The information received was true. Blood sandalwood was hidden under potato sacks in the warehouse. The police took him into custody after conducting a panchnama. It weighs seven and a half tons. The international market value of this sandalwood is around Rs. 3 crore 25 lakhs. Police carried out the legal process and confiscated it.

One person has been arrested in connection with the case and further investigation is underway, police said. Meanwhile, some more accused in this smuggling are likely to be convicted. Four of the accused have been identified by the police and are being sought. In particular, the police will be challenged to find out where the sandalwood was brought from and where it was to be sent.
