The Food and Drug Administration has seized adulterated ghee worth Rs 7 lakh 38 thousand 497 from a wholesaler.

A large stock of adulterated ghee has been seized by the Food and Drug Administration in Pune. This ghee was brought to Pune from Tamil Nadu.

On taking samples of this ghee, it has been revealed that this ghee is harmful to human health. A large stock of adulterated ghee was seized from wholesalers and distributors. Action was taken against this ghee after it was inspected at the State Health Laboratory in Pune. It is important to be careful if you are bringing ghee from outside like this, or taking any food. Such adulterated ghee can cause blockages in the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Therefore, such ghee can be dangerous for human health.

Effects of adulterated ghee

Eating adulterated ghee can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure. Also, the possibility of liver damage also increases to a large extent. Such ghee can cause miscarriage in women. Therefore, pregnant women are advised to consume home-made ghee. Adulterated ghee can cause brain swelling. Indigestion, stomach ache, gas problem can also occur. This adulterated ghee is manufactured without following any food safety standards thus posing a major risk to the health of the consumers.

Can these methods identify adulterated butter?

Heat the ghee. If it melts and changes its color to somewhat gray, then it is pure ghee. If the color turns yellow, it may be adulterated ghee. If pure ghee melts on hand, it can be considered as pure ghee. But if the ghee remains thick, you can assume it is fake adulterated ghee. Also, to check adulterated ghee add 5 ml of hydrochloric acid in one spoon of ghee. If the color of the ghee changes to red, it can be considered that the ghee has been adulterated with dyes, which is very harmful to health.
